The New York City Skyline was the backdrop for Calvin Luo’s Fall 2019 Collection. Luo brought the energy and minimalism for his latest collection. His collection is a combination of subcultures of the 50’s and 70’s. The transition of both decades can be seen through the craftsmanship of Luo’s Collection. Luo continues to tell the story of a strong independent woman, enhanced femininity, and unity through unisex clothing. I enjoyed the diversity that was seen through the models on the runway.
The best pieces from the collection were deep cuffed blazers, Statement shoes and skirts with shiny tassels. My favorite pieces from his collection were his scarves, denim and over-sized tops . I’m a lover of the '70s and was excited to see '70’s style tailored pants .Luo envisioned the perfect collection for the future by including inspirations from subcultures, including temporal references and used women spies of the second world war as inspiration. I look forward to Luo’s future collections making headlines in the fashion industry and that he continues to highlight the transitioning volumes of minimalism.
