COLLECTION NO. 3 ‘INTERLUDE’

The starting point for this collection was the need to take things slower and a desire to focus on what we at Latimmier see as the core of our practice - tailored silhouettes and craftsmanship. As many know, it is extremely demanding to work and exist as a small brand with limited resources in our industry. Our creative director Ervin Latimer experienced a burnout in the fall of 2022 and much of the process of this collection was affected by the aftermath of his recovery: Why do we do what we do? What really is important and meaningful in fashion? Why is it so normal that young designers burn out under the pressures of our industry?

With this collection we want show our will to rather do less and go deep in what we create. In our case, an interlude represents an opportunity to reorganize, contemplate and prepare for the next act that is our journey in redefining masculinities.

The collection consists of 10 looks and introduces made-by-order pieces and one-of- a-kind, unique pieces in our selection. Some limited pieces from the collection will be available for purchase on our online store February 2023.

In the seven weeks that it took to create this collection, no sketches of looks were prepared, rather silhouettes were fitted on fit models as rough 3D sketches and the creative process, making the patterns, manipulating the materials and so on led the way. Techniques were planned beforehand, but in most cases the first trial was done on the final garment itself, creating unplanned opportunities and results.

All of this forced us to let the process lead us and not the other way around. Letting go of extreme control felt like a suitable process for creating silhouettes to perform masculinities.

Ultimately this collection serves as an homage to all the up-and-coming designers and brands out there, who might not yet have the resources they need to thrive. We see you, our peers, and we honor you and your struggles and triumphs with this in-

timate, deeply personal collection.
